Deforestation Trends in Carbon Offset Projects between 2001-2023
In this tutorial, we’ll explore how to leverage readily available satellite data products such as data from Global Forest Watch (GFW) data to analyze deforestation trends within forest carbon offset projects. You’ll learn to construct and manipulate Virtual Raster Tiles (VRTs) and rasters, calculating class areas in rasters, and integrating these results into your dataframe. Additionally, you’ll gain skills in writing functions for data manipulation, and creating informative graphics and interactive maps.
This tutorial is perfect for individuals with basic Python knowledge who are eager to advance their data analysis and manipulation skills. Due to its comprehensive nature, the tutorial is divided into three parts: the first focuses on data downloading, the second on intersecting datasets, and the third on efficiently analyzing and extracting meaningful insights from the data.
